Yesterday the ACLU and the Center for Constitutional Rights went to court to challenge the Obama administration’s decision to authorize the killing of Anwar al-Awlaki, the US citizen now hiding in Yemen.  The case isn’t about the individual. It’s about the US government’s asserted authority to kill an American citizen without due process, without judicial oversight, and without explaining to anyone why the individual should be killed. Disregarding due process is unconstitutional, unlawful and un-American.
