Last week, on his very first day in office, Governor LePage signed an executive order that has already sent shockwaves across the state.  The order did little for changing actual practice but instead just sent a clear and unwelcoming message to the immigrant populations in Maine.

Today the Governor went a step further.  After declining an invitation to an event commemorating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Governor LePage told a reporter, in no uncertain terms, that the NAACP could kiss his butt.

Join us on Monday January 17, 2011 at 1pm for a Community Conversation at Preble Street Resource Center.  Come hear community leaders speak about Lepage first action as Governor, and find out ways to take action.   Immediately following at 2:30pm is a march to City Hall to Support A Welcoming Maine.

We will stand in solidarity and model a welcoming Maine and honor Martin Luther King's work to secure economy justice.
