First, the good news:

Representative Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) introduced a repeal of the federal ban for same sex marriage.  Maine's Representative Chellie Pingree joined ninety of her fellow Members of Congress as an original co-sponsor!  Read more at:

Now, the bad news:

Marriage equality opponents launched their first television and radio ads today.  I don't know who the Boston lawyer in this ad is or who he means when he refers to "outside special interests" who convinced the legislature to pass "An Act to End Discrimination in Civil Marriage and Affirm Religious Freedom."  I was there, but I'm from Hancock.  Laura Harper of Hallowel and Betsy Smith of Portland were there lobbying.  So were 3000 other Mainers.  Somehow I missed the "outside special interests" in that Maine crowd at the public hearing and in the halls of the statehouse.
