The House and Senate have now both voted to end same day voter registration.  It's just a matter of time before the Governor signs into law LD 1376, ending a 38-year old tradition of allowing voters to register and cast their ballots on Election Day.  I am very grateful to Senator Brian Langley (R-Ellsworth) and Senator Chris Rector (R-Thomaston) for standing up (against the party line) for Mainers' voting rights.  The debate yesterday afternoon was impassioned.  You can read about it here at the Bangor Daily News.  As I said to the paper, this is not over.  We will do everything in our power to restore same day voter registration.  But if you need a small dose of humor, check out this cartoon by George Danby.  "Block the vote."
