This Friday marks 11 years since the United States brought the first men to Guantanamo Bay as prisoners. As ACLU of Maine President John Paterson said in an opinion piece in the Portland Press Herald today:

Sadly, our collective outrage has ebbed as news from the prison has fallen from the front page. Yet not much has changed, and so we must refuse to become complacent.

Guantanamo remains a secretive island prison where our government locks men up indefinitely, without charge or trial -- and holds them there even after they have been cleared for release.

The continued existence of Guantanamo is an assault on the Constitution. There are still 166 men being held at there without charge or trial, 80 of whom who have been cleared for release.

You can help urge President Obama to do the right thing. Share this infographic to show how the prison at Guantánamo has been a stain on our nation's civil liberties legacy.
