Why did you want to be an ACLU of Maine intern?

I have family ties to Maine and have spent time there and it's been a dream to work at the ACLU. When the opportunity arose to work at the ACLU of Maine, I was extremely excited to be able to help protect the civil rights of people across the state.

What did you learn during your externship?

This semester, I learned about numerous civil rights issues including voting rights, right to counsel, asylum review process rights, and freedom of speech and expression. It was incredible to have the chance to research a bit of the law regarding these topics and get information to our Legal Department to use in fighting for Mainers' rights.

Where are you now, and what are your plans for the future?

I'm currently in my second year of law school at Boston University School of Law. I'm hoping to become a civil rights lawyer and I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to extern at such an amazing organization with people who are pursuing justice daily.
