About 50 incarcerated workers in the state's work release program brought this lawsuit against the State for seizing their unemployment benefits without due process. The settlement returns their benefits and recognizes a protected property interest in incarcerated individuals' prison accounts.

We challenged a Maine law requiring that abortions be performed solely by physicians, unnecessarily blocking qualified advanced practice clinicians (APCs) from doing so. We dropped the case in June 2019 after Gov. Mills signed legislation ending the ban on qualified nurse practitioners and other APCs.

Aroostook County Jail denied medical treatment to incarcerated people with opioid use disorder, violating their rights under the Constitution and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). In a major victory, a federal appeals court ordered the jail to provide our client with medication-assisted treatment, establishing the right for all in Maine and the First Circuit.
