Students' Rights in Maine Schools

The Supreme Court ruled in 1969 that students do not "shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate."
This is true for other fundamental rights as well.
The Constitution applies everywhere, including at school, and inclusive policies create better learning environments for all students. But students, parents, and educators are returning to school against a backdrop of political and legal upheaval. That's why it's more important than ever to know your rights at school.
