Your rights are on the ballot

Election Day is Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

This is a consequential election year in Maine. Your ballot will have a question that could upend absentee voting and restrict access to the ballot box. Make a plan and vote like your rights depend on it – because they do.

Vote NO on Question 1:

Fair, secure, and accessible elections are the cornerstone of our democracy. But a referendum in November 2025 takes aim at Maine’s safe and secure voting system, including absentee voting. This referendum would make it harder for people across the state to vote – especially seniors, Mainers with a disability, and Mainers without reliable transportation. Specifically, Question 1 would:

  • Limit ballot drop-off boxes
  • Second-guess and burden town clerks with unnecessary red tape
  • Ban return postage on absentee ballots, even if taxpayers vote to fund it
  • Stop you from calling your town clerk to request a ballot, making it harder for those without reliable transportation or internet to request an absentee ballot
  • Eliminate ongoing absentee ballots, so seniors and people with disabilities don't have to request a ballot for every single election
  • Eliminate two days of early voting
