Each year, the ACLU of MAINE testifies on dozens of bills before committees like Criminal Justice, Judiciary, Health & Human Services, Education, and Transportation to name a few. You can read last year's full legislative report here. That's why our team is reaching out to legislators all across the state for lunch or coffee to talk about our issues and values. We've been having some delighful and sometimes surprising conversations. Unfortunately, we can't meet with each of the 151 members of the House of Representatives or the 35 Senate Members individually. That's where you come in. We encourage you to consider meeting with your newly elected representative. Let them know you support civil liberties, and urge them to uphold the Constitution and the Bill of Rights when they cast their votes starting in January.
