I spent most of today in Augusta with ACLU of MAINE staffers Brianna Twofoot and Alysia Melnick. It was an inspiring day with a press conference to formally launch a campaign to limit the use of solitary confinement. You can read a brief version of the MPBN story here. Look for more news in tomorrow's Bangor Daily News or watch it on WABI Television Friday, 1/22. Sam Shain also did a thorough story for Village Soup here.
Are you moved to get involved? We could use your presence in Augusta on Tuesday, February 9 at the ACLU of MAINE Statehouse Action Day from 9 am to noon in Augusta. To join us on that day, please contact Katy Jayne at [email protected].
Can't do February 9? We'll be participating in a People of Conscience Action Day on Tuesday, February 23 in Augusta.
At the very least, please sign our petition at www.endsolitary.com. Together, we can make a difference.
