The 132nd Legislature kicked off on December 4th. Lawmakers are currently working on bill ideas, and bill titles are due on January 10, 2025. In the meantime, we are working with lawmakers and other organizations to lay the groundwork to advance civil rights and liberties as bills start moving later this month.

In this virtual event, meet ACLU of Maine staff – including our executive director and members of our policy and communications teams – and other Mainers who want to get engaged and learn about the legislative process and our work in Augusta.

Our commitments transcend election cycles and party politics. As this legislative session begins, we recognize that we are in a difficult moment – but we are prepared. We are clear-eyed about the current threats and opportunities, and the very real effects they will have on our daily lives. We will move forward decisively to vindicate the rights and freedoms of those most vulnerable, to give voice to the values of our multicultural democracy, and to preserve the commitment to justice for all.
