FOAA: Portland Smart City Lights

The ACLU of Maine filed a Freedom of Access Act (FOAA) request with the City of Portland in November, 2017 after learning the city has decided to replace its normal street lights with LED "Smart City" lights that can be equipped with surveillance equipment. The ACLU of Maine received the attached documents from the City of Portland in response to the FOAA request.

Portland is moving forward with a plan to install LED lights with advanced technological capabilities. Falmouth, South Portland, Biddeford, Rockland and Scarborough have all considered similar projects.
