Bio

Shana joined the ACLU of Maine’s Board of Directors in 2025. A long-time supporter of the organization, she believes deeply in the ACLU’s role as one of the few strong and consistent protectors of civil rights for all. As a board member, she looks forward to supporting the organization’s mission and contributing her experience as an attorney and facilitator committed to cross-difference dialogue.

Shana practiced law as a municipal attorney in Maine for 18 years. After leaving her legal practice, she shifted her focus to organizing and building bridges across differences. She now leads programs for a national training and consulting organization addressing equity, power, and race. She is also active in Maine’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and serves on the advisory board of an angel investment fund.

Shana holds an A.B. in Sociology from Brown University, a Master of Public Administration, and J.D. from the University of Connecticut, and is admitted to practice law in Maine.

Outside of work, Shana enjoys spending time outdoors in Maine’s woods and waterways, as well as time with her husband and two teenagers. In 2024, her family took a 10-month travel sabbatical, fulfilling a long-held dream to immerse themselves in different cultures and explore the world.
