Given how much day to day life and business relies on the internet, I hope the FCC will take steps to ensure protection for all content on the internet. Net neutrality, or the practice of allowing access to all content on the internet equally, faces threats from broadband companies that want to profit on all of our daily use of the internet by discriminating against content. Profit is not the problem; the threat to free spech is the heart of the matter.

Broadband companies could stagger prices of internet access based on content. They could group all non-profit organization's websites, like the ACLU's or ACLU of MAINE's, and charge more money for users to access these sites at the same speed they access, say, whitehouse.gov.

This issue will continue to gain attention as threats to our free access to the internet rise. Check out the ACLU's "Net Neutrality 101", which the national ACLU sent to the FCC today. The more people know about net neutrality, the more likely we are to secure open and free access to the internet.
