Concerned about how much personal information you're giving up on-line? Ever wondered how the ads on your FaceBook page seem linked to items you've searched on Google or other websites you've visited?
You're not being paranoid. Your browsing is tracked. Your personal information is collected, sold, and shared. Antiquated privacy laws (written before the internet came around) do little to help you.
Worst of all, your information can be given out to the government on demand, with little judicial oversight.
Check out the ACLU of Northern California’s new Demand Your dotRights
campaign. It details how social networking sites, photo sites, and search engines take your private information. Then get involved by going to the dotRights Action Center.
It can only get worse. We need to act now.
