Tomorrow night, Bishop Gene Robinson
from the Episcopal Diocese in New Hampshire, will be giving a talk on “Why
Religion Matters in the Marriage Equality Debate”. Bishop Gene Robinson is
active at the local, state and national level in advocating for full civil
rights for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people.
The talk is sponsored by the Religious
Coalition for the Freedom to Marry in Maine, Religious Coalition Against
Discrimination, Rev. Ann Fowler, the Cathedral Church of St. Luke, The Equity
Fund of the Maine Community Foundation, and Integrity Maine
The Religious Coalition for the
Freedom to Marry represents “one religious voice in unwavering support of the
right to legal marriage for same sex couples”. Their website www.religiouscoalition.org
includes resources for faith leaders, Letters to the Editor of local Catholics
speaking out in favor of marriage equality that have been published in Maine
newspapers, sermons delivered by various faith leaders in Maine, as well as many
