Bio
Emma Bond rejoined the ACLU of Maine as a staff attorney in the spring of 2026, after previously working at the organization from 2017 to 2022. During her time at the ACLU of Maine, Emma has worked on cases involving free speech, disability rights, youth justice, immigrant rights, voting rights, criminal legal reform, and prison conditions.
Before returning to the ACLU of Maine, Emma worked at the Department of Justice, where she specialized in cases involving international trade and government contracts.
Emma grew up in Maine and earned her law degree summa cum laude from the University of Maine School of Law. During law school, she worked as a legal fellow at an immigrant-rights organization, represented low-income Mainers at the Cumberland Legal Aid Clinic, and completed an internship with the Conservation Law Foundation. After law school, Emma clerked for the Honorable Evan Wallach of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Outside of work, Emma enjoys gardening with native plants, almost any type of genre fiction, and going for long walks in the woods.
