I am embarking on the process of buying a house. Indeed, I handed much of my personal financial information to a mortgage officer yesterday. So this blog post by the ACLU was alarming to say the least. Apparently, some banks are discriminating against pregnant women or couples who are planning on having children! Disclaimer: my bank has not asked me to write a letter discussing my "family planning." Not yet anyway. If they do, I'm glad that the ACLU, the ACLU of MAINE, and MomsRising will defend my freedom from discrimination based on gender, familial status, or marital status.
