Over the past few weeks we’ve had several blogs about our nation’s balance between freedom and national security. Yesterday Edward blogged about the Obama Administration’s plan to subject citizens – all citizens – of 14 nations to full body pat downs and electronic strip searches. This is a direct call for racial profiling.
Moving in this direction results in statements like the following from retired Lt. General Tom McInerny, “If you are an 18 to 28 year old Muslim man, then you should be strip searched.”
When I heard this statement from a retired Air Force General, my jaw dropped in shock.
Are we really moving towards a country where we subject specific ethnic and gender groups to unreasonable searches with no probable cause?
