Boston – A federal appeals court in Boston has upheld a lower court ruling that the Aroostook County Jail must provide a Madawaska woman with medication assisted treatment for her substance use disorder while she serves a 40-day sentence.
Portland – In a landmark decision, a federal judge has ordered the Aroostook County Jail to provide a Madawaska woman with access to medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for her opioid use disorder during her 40-day jail sentence, which is scheduled to begin on Monday.
The ACLU of Maine will be in court beginning Monday to argue that a ban on Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) in Aroostook County Jail is unlawful and harmful.
