Anti-Bullying Bill Passes the Legislature
zach, May 17, 2012 - 3:48pmIt took two years, two Education Committee votes, two Appropriations Committee votes, and thirteen different votes in the Senate and House, but at approximately 3:00 am this morning, the Maine Legislature passed meaningful legislation to address the growing problem of bullying in our schools. The ACLU of Maine worked with a number of wonderful organizations--the Maine Women's Lobby, GLAD, EqualityMaine, GLSEN, the Maine Children's Alliance, the Maine Education Association, and many others to help make this legislation possible.

The Day After Election Day
jill, May 16, 2012 - 4:13pmYesterday, I spent some time getting acquainted with the new office for Mainers United in Portland. The field team was set up and ready to go. These are the folks that will have their boots on the ground to win marriage for same-sex couples in Maine this November. I was excited to see all of the phones and computers hooked up and ready for use by volunteers who will work hard to change the hearts and minds of voters before election day.
